10 Must-Visit Cafes In Jakarta, Indonesia
Cafes in Jakarta just keep getting better due to the rise of many new ones. I am astonished by the number of cafes I got to choose from! Ranging from chic and glamorous cafes to the best artisan coffee, you get to explore all of them, each being different and unique to their own. However, as Jakarta is a city that is known for one of the worst traffic congestion in the world, it would be a little hard to travel from one end of Jakarta to the other end. If you are interested in cafe hopping here in Jakarta, make sure to first plan your day out!
1.
Sainé Daise Bistro
Sainé Daise Bistro has one of the best main courses among all the other cafes I tried when I was in Jakarta. They are famous for their fusion dishes. The menu is mainly a fusion of between Japanese, French and Indonesian cuisine. You certainly won’t be disappointed!
Their interior is also the one of the poshest you can find here. The cafe has two levels, the first floor operates as their cake dessert shop, EIO while the second level acts as a dining area. If you are interested in taking some #OOTD, this would be a good place to make you look chic and fancy!
One of their popular main courses is Ami Ebi Hair Japanese Tiny Ebi Tobiko with Prawn-infused Oil and Wakegi. The flavors really complement well together. Strong flavors, yet not fishy and pungent at all!

2.
Ombe Kofie
Ombe Kofie is well-known for their artisan coffee. Their standard of coffee surely stands out and it’s not surprising as the staffs there have a deep understanding of coffee. I was told that Espresso and Cold Brew Coffee are two of their popular items in the cafe.
A very small and tiny coffee shop, yet it was cozy and relaxing. Certainly, a great place to laze around in the afternoon. Be warned that the cafe may get very crowded during the weekends.

BERMVDA
** Waffles-lover alert! **
Bermvda Coffee is one of Jakarta’s hidden gem that is not known to many! It was only made known to me through my relative who she herself is an avid cafe hopper.
The waffle at Bermvda was fabulous! It was light, fluffed and not doughy at all! The portion was just right for me and was uniquely presented! I got to try two different types of waffles, Balinese Tuna Waffle and Strawberry Cheesecake Waffle. I enjoyed my time here with their delicious waffles.
Balinese Tuna Waffle was spicy and fragrant from the stir-fried chili padi, lemongrass, and onion! Reminds me of my distant Aunt who makes me Balinese shredded Chicken everytime I’m back in my mum’s hometown!
Make sure to check out Bermvda, you will be astonished by their wide selection of waffles and milkshake.

4.
Kelasi
More like a dessert store, Kelasi is an Ice-cream shop that specializes only by using coconut as their ice cream base. You get to choose your own toppings with their Coconut Ice Cream. The Coconut Ice Cream was definitely refreshing to me. It wasn’t too sweet and overpowering. But, I do feel that they should have more variety of toppings as I was limited to only a few and I did not really like what they have on hand. They should have included more traditional toppings like Red Beans, Coconut Cream, and Aloe Vera instead of those overpowering sweet syrups that ruined the main flavors.
Nevertheless, you should try out something different if you have not tried out such dessert before. Just go light with their limited toppings!

First Love Patisserie
I’m in love with First Love Mille Crepe! I got to try out different flavors every time when I travel to Jakarta, Indonesia. My personal favorite is always Belgium Chocolate. First Love Patisserie isn’t really a cafe, it is a very small dessert store situated at a corner in a mall. Nevertheless, there are a few tables for you to dine in if you like to.
Additionally, the store is located in Mal Kelapa Gading. It is a super huge mall with over 600 shops for you to browse from. Make sure to spend at least a day here. I forgot to mention that No. 4 Kelasi is also found here.
Address: Mal Kelapa Gading, Jl. Boulevard Raya, RT.13/RW.18, Klp. Gading Tim., Klp. Gading, Kota Jkt Utara, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 14240, Indonesia

6.
Gerobak Betawi
If I’m not wrong, ‘Gerobak Betawi’ refers to those street carts selling on a roadside in the olden days of Jakarta. In other words, this cafe/restaurant has a wide variety of Jakarta street food. It would be a great place to satisfy all your Nasi Goreng, Tahu Goreng and all your other Indonesian cravings.
I like something soupy so I really enjoyed their Soto Bihun. Delicious Indonesian-style chicken broth, and thin bee hoon to go with. However, their Kerupuk were a little too stale that day. I was pretty upset as those were my favorite. They are also known for their Nasi Kucing, make sure to order when you are there!
I love the ambiance, it’s great! Lovely warmth and chic, yet all the food they served there are very traditional (and comfort to me). If you ain’t sure where to try our their local food, this is a good place to start with.

7.
Kedai Gentong Ice Cream
Conveniently located just beside Gerobak Betawi, Kedai Gentong Ice Cream is a local premium home brand that uses Indonesian exotic finest ingredients. The result is luxuriously creamy and unusual range of selection when it comes to flavors. My personal favorites are Avocado, Green Tea, and Jack Fruit. I was told by my friend that they really liked their Mao Shan Wang Durian Ice Cream! All of us can conclude that the flavors are very natural and intense. That is why we all enjoy going to Kedai Gentong Ice Cream. Definitely should visit if you love a good scoop of ice cream.

8.
The Caffeine Dispensary
Just like Ombe Kofie, The Caffeine Dispensary is also known for their artisan coffee! They roast their own coffee beans right inside the cafe. I was told that they often create their own blends of coffee bean to create a unique taste and aroma that differ themselves from other cafes. One of their signature drinks is Ice Latte Gula Jawa, which is my best-loved choice when I’m there.
For my Singaporean readers who doesn’t know what is Gula Jawa, Gula Jawa is a type of coconut sugar that is similar to what we usually will associate with, Gula Melaka. However, there are many kinds of coconut sugar in Indonesia. They are grouped base on their quality, and the different parts of tree used.
However, I would often request for a cup of hot Latte Gula Jawa instead as I still enjoy having a hot cup of coffee. Nevertheless, you should totally give it a try as I don’t think you can find such exotic combination elsewhere.

9.
Shirokuma
Shirokuma is a Japanese themed dessert cafe that serves very delicious soft-serve ice cream, and dessert (they do serve main courses). If I’m not wrong, ‘Shirokuma’ literally means Polar Bear. I got to try out their combi-flavored ice cream that consists of Plain Vanilla, Matcha, Seasalt and Thai Milk Tea. You guys should totally try that out! It was so good that I couldn’t forget the taste of it till today, especially their Thai Milk Tea flavor.
It’s a pity that I did not manage to try out their other popular items like Affogato and Japadog (those were really cool >.< ). This is one of the cafes that I will definitely come back again when I’m in Jakarta.

Aranzi Yokuden Cafe
With YourWifi portable wifi router, I am connected to the world at all times. What differentiates them from other companies is that they also provide us with their portable charger so that we can charge the portable wifi router or our phones when the batteries run out.
Just like Shirokuma, Aranzi Yokuden is another Japanese themed cafe here in Jakarta. Here, you can find really fluffy Japanese-style Pancakes with infused sweet syrup, really cute cakes, and affordable Japanese meals. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed their pancakes, we were astonished that it was so thick! Yet, at first, my friends were skeptical about the texture. However, one bite revealed that it was so soft and delicious.
Another worthy thing to take is their wide range of cakes featuring different Aranzi Aronzo characters! I got to try out their Chocolate Fruit Panda Cake. It was really lovely and adorable! It was delighting as it was not very sweet and has lots of fruits in it.
While we felt that their main courses here weren’t outstanding, I really liked their Spicy Fried Shrimp Floss Maki Roll. It was something different and certainly palatable!
